Gearbox Remapping
On automatic and dual-clutch vehicles, the gearbox has its own control unit (TCU) that decides when to shift, how quickly, and how much torque it will accept. Its factory software is calibrated for the standard engine, so after an engine remap the gearbox can hold the car back — through slow, comfort-biased shifts or torque limits set for the original output. A gearbox remap recalibrates the TCU to match.
